Summit IFRS9 Implementation:



Oversaw multiple concurrent work streams across regulatory, vendor trading system and new system development projects designed to implement £6M IFRS9 regulatory reporting requirements. Managed team of up to 30.

 

  • Ensured timely regulatory compliance, turned around struggling project & saved >£1M after taking over from external consultants; stepped in after key personnel departure, and re-scoped, planned and controlled all phases and tasks. 
  • Resolved complex vendor issues and held provider to deliverables that included post-go live strategy; liaised throughout and determined bug prioritisation, delivery iterations, dates and release management, creation and ownership of Go-Live Runbook, and internal release governance requirements.
  • Fostered trust and consensus, resolved internal conflicts, and managed senior management expectations; assured project governance, engaged relevant parties and facilitated systematic discussions. Chaired regular project meetings with core team using Agile / Scrum approach, and steered meetings with MDs.

 



Exotics Modelling & Pricing Engine: 



Delivered £400K derivatives portfolio pricing project 25% under budget, with new architecture and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) layer. Managed resources and budgets with direct control of IT resources.

 

  • Enabled better use of capital and improved risk management through new modelling and pricing engine; allowed risk department to use own methodology and derive granular information to assess risk, independently of front office.
  • Generated stakeholder buy-in and enlisted senior management support, dissolving silos; allied IT Development and Risk Department Quant teams in constructive collaboration, and worked closely with Head of Quantitative Risk team.

 



Summit Trading System Upgrade:

 

Headed upgrade of trading system from unsupported to supported version, from initial business case preparation to system implementation and post-go live maintenance service. Commended for quality of project artefacts and governance.

 

  • Boosted functionality, efficiency and accuracy, and completed project within budget and planned timescale; drafted business case & obtained IT Budgetary and Governance sign-off. Reduced FTE through implementation of Summit STP.

 



Market Data Depository Enhancements:



Upgraded market data depository function as part of development process with iterative releases delivered via Agile methodology. Planned schedule and controlled budget, and fostered Developer / Treasury Quant cross-team collaboration.

Summit Dodd Frank & EMIR Regulatory Reporting:

 

Established compliance with new reporting rules, expanded functionality and upgraded management information reporting. Managed team of 12 across a series of Agile releases.

 

  • Instrumental to Bank’s UK top ranking for compliant reporting; improved initial trade reporting success rate from 55% to 94% and reduced outstanding enhancements and bugs list by 80%.
  • Created greater transparency and comfort for senior management with enhanced MI; introduced detailed daily reports that provided better understanding of trade failures and eased counterparty reconciliation.

Summit Trading System Upgrade & New User GUI Implementation:



Moved Bank onto fully supported software version, implemented functionality upgrade and new graphical user interface with full SDLC management, and participated in selection of new collateral management system. Directed team of 30.



  • Elevated ability and effectiveness of business to manage risk, and met enhanced SLAs with faster MI delivery; redeveloped interfaces, decommissioned obsolete tech and introduced more adaptable coding language. Implemented CL enhancements including new interest calculation methods, prepayments and bad debt functionality.
  • Facilitated regulatory compliance and met evolving business requirements; performed functionality and GAP analysis for procurement and implementation of new Summit collateral management module.

Summit Trading System Migration Manager:



Oversaw migration of IRD portfolio with >35,000 trades across systems from Kondor+ to Summit. Developed and tested migration tool and centralised all derivative trades. Reported directly to Programme Manager and led team of five.



  • Initiated efficiency savings and reduced FTE, saving > €1M annually; halved support and annual licence fees for over 100 users and enabled existing support team to become more productive and fully utilised.
  • Reduced risk and enabled fuller portfolio view with more integrated MIS reports; offered better visibility on trades and P&L with new interface from trading systems into other MIS and settlements systems. Devised and implemented system that imported fixing rates and automatically updated the increased trade population.

Interest Rate Risk Product Migration To Summit Trading System:



Planned, budgeted and implemented transition from legacy systems to a vendor integrated Global Rates trading system and drove smooth migration of IR products across platforms with more detailed management information and granular daily P&L.



  • Improved architecture and systems, and cut costs and IT and operational risk; reduced data processing failures, minimised support needs and delivered broader functionality, including accounting procedures.
  • Ensured long-term benefit of transition throughout planning and implementation, acting as subject matter expert; developed user training protocols and trained users from front to back office, including traders and IT, on module use.

Summit Trading System Implementation:



Implemented new vendor Fixed Income and IRD trading system for greenfield bank on time and under budget; oversaw software vendor team of four and project managed 15 bank staff on daily basis.



  • Enhanced operational efficiency and regulatory compliance, ensuring integration with existing environment; delivered integrated end-to-end solution and directed software vendor alongside bank resources.
  • Resolved technical issues, acted as subject matter expert and created knowledge legacy; trained IT staff to analyse and build interfaces to existing downstream systems, and trained front office traders on booking trades in new set-up.
  • Maintained management confidence through complex and uncertain project lifecycle; outlined implications of programme challenges, delivered timely status reports and managed senior stakeholder expectations.
